On
the 22nd of December the Annual Christmas party was held at the Carson
City Station Grille. Honored guest included Carson City Sheriff Kenneth
Furlong, with his wife Phyllis Furlong. It is nice with their busy
schedules that they both always find the time to attend the association's
functions.
George Alvendia welcomed everyone to the party and introduced the
association's newest president, Jaimarie Dagdagan. Afterwards, Ephraim
Vergara sang the American National Anthem with George Alvendia singing
the Philippine National Anthem. Father Angeles Don Don De Leon provided
the association with a prayer/invocation for the party.
Dinner was served while Marissa Morse entertained us with music/karaoke.
Some of the karaoke singers during the night included Rico Jaiver,
Kim Empeņo, and Zena Weeks.
The daughters and sons of members provided some entertainment with
a couple of numbers of modern/new wave dancing. When they finished
Jaimarie Dagdagan welcomed the association to this year's Xmas Party.
She thanked the outgoing officers and then introduced the new officers
of the Fil-Am Association; Jaimarie Dagdagan, President; Betty Canonigo,
Vice President (External); Ephraim Vergara, Vice President (Internal);
Kim Empeņo, Secretary; Minda Scholl, Treasurer; Gloria Galimba, Assistant
Treasurer; Mely Gantan, Auditor; Lily Bumenlag, Personal Relations
Officer; Gigi Swezey, Parliamentarian; and Rey Hernandez, Sergeant
at Arms. Sheriff Furlong then inducted the incoming officers by having
them pledging their allegiance to manage the association to the best
of their abilities.
Afterwards the evenings Raffle prizes were drawn for. We would like
to thank Oscar & Betty Canonigo from Salad Master, Pons & Lily Bumenlag
from Kabayan Multi-Mart, Gerard & Katherine Bermejo from Atlas Cargo
Forwarding and Manila Box. Personal donations were also provided by
Kim Empeno, Lisa Smith, Rene, Virginia Smith and Vee Watkins.
Santa Clause arrived and handed out gifts to the little ones that
had attended. John O'Dell and his helper Dee O'Dell provided each
child a little something. Next the 2007 Fil-Am Christmas Carolers
provided guest with traditional English and Tagalog Christmas carols.
Once again they have helped raise money for the organization with
their efforts. The rest of the night included karaoke with dancing
and was enjoyed by all until it was time to go home.
